The creator of Stardew Valley has said that he might make Stardew Valley 2, but he really enjoys just adding ‘more stuff to Stardew Valley.’

Assuming there is no engine limitations free add-ons is preferred over SD2.
Although if he does 2 then people will buy it anyway because the € to playtime for this game is ridiculous.
