idk why i bother with trying to convince people who don’t want to be convinced that e.g. climate change is real and needs solving or that e.g. Armenia needs help

I gave up trying to urge people to care about climate change when I was eleven. They don’t give a fuck.
yeah, I mostly just go to protests about democracy cuz I think it’s more important and more likely to see change but it’s so fucking frustrating how much people just go “oh yeah you’re blindly trusting politicians? Where’s the plan and how do you know they’re trustworthy and how do you know that they’re not all part of a globalist conspiracy” etc etc.
I suppose the presence of figures like Matt Gaetz in parliament really shows how representative democracy is working…

Because he’s just a symptom, not the problem. He should still be nowhere near Congress, but this problem is institutional. I saw someone say this on Bluesky but America is basically a 3-party state right now, except with the two sides of the Republican Party technically under the same umbrella. The MAGA part is not big, but big enough to force a coalition — and only time will tell whether it’s MAGA with the GOP or if the GOP decide to break from that half and do a coalition with the Dems lol
