The psychic mind manipulator is here, it’s time to discuss our femme Excalibur - Nyx!

Release date: 2013-01-29

Passive: Enemies are 20% less accurate when targeting Nyx (except while Absorb is active).
Mind Control - Nyx invades the psyche of a target, confusing enemies and making them fight for the Tenno cause.
Psychic Bolts - Nyx launches a cluster of force bolts at enemies, using telekinesis to adjust flight paths and seek nearby targets.
Chaos - With a powerful psychic blast, Nyx causes mass hysteria on the battlefield by confusing all enemies to attack random factions.
Absorb - Nyx absorbs all incoming damage and channels that collected energy into an explosive radial discharge. Nyx’s Weapon damage is buffed based on incoming absorbed damage when the Ability ends.

Acquisition: Blueprint purchasable from the market, components drop from Phorid on assassination missions that appear during an Infested Invasion.

Despite not having used her since 2017 or so, she’s still my most played frame on my profile. I may or may not have pretty much mained Nyx in my early days (along with my friend playing Frost, we were the duo CC kings back then). I played with her Prime briefly, but by that point I finally had some actually good endgame weaponry and the know-how how to mod them properly, so CC became less relevant to our success.

My biggest modern days grip with Nyx is Absorb. It’s a horrible ability and it’s augment is a complete crutch, turning it from unusable into usable but painful to utilize. It pretty much forces you to run pure black energy just to be able to see anything and disables the mechanic that makes Warframe so fun to play, parkour. Replace it with a different, not horribly clunky survival ability and Nyx would likely go back on my “fun frames to play” list.

I legitimately just ditched it for Condemn. No idea if it still works after the shield gating changes. That said, I did keep an Absorb+FBHCAB build specifically for Sister hunts for the extra security in case of early spawns, and for being lazy in team missions.
