Lemmy explorer is great. It made me realize the only way I knew how to find subreddits was to stumble on them.

You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: !youshouldknow@lemmy.world

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
