I don’t care for bacon, it doesn’t have much flavor and is often just used for salt, or fat. I leave it out of almost all recipes that call for it and haven’t missed it yet.

Probably because it does have a weir artificial flavor added.
Yeah, that or they use shortening to make it shelf-stable, which always tastes like chemicals to me.
Speaking of shelf stable bakery products, I haven’t eaten there in years, but I never felt well after eating subway. I blame the bread.
