    Sorry for speaking English but my French is not enough to speak about this topic. As far as I’m aware, rudimentary means too basic, without enough tools or options. That is what I understood.

      It’s the “too” I was disagreeing with. I was meaning rudimentary in the sense of “basic; having limitations to options”. However limited options isn’t necessarily inferior, it’s just less polished. Rustic even.

      I’m hoping it’s not another faux-ami and I’m thinking the English meaning is the same as the French incorrectly

        Poli is not polished but polite. That was the faux ami.

          La langue française est une gourgandine. Poli peut vouloir dire les deux (polir le verbe ou être poli).
