Taking stock of our situation Kol examines the giant slab of stone blocking our way back…

Meanwhile Man Berg casts Detect Secret Doors to look for a bypass…

Neither approach is fruitful.

A careful examination of the walls of the room Kol finds a panel… open and there’s a switch.

Flip the switch… rumbling from above. The door is opening!

Back on the surface… now which way was the farm again?

Lead the way back Velius! You’re our only hope.

Velius turns out to be the right choice as we make decent progress in probably the right direction.

After some time traveling a ruin appears in the distance…

They’re the ruins we had departed from. We’ve gone in a circle. REE

We decide to give it another go to potentially rule-out magic trapping us here.

We follow the Druid along making our way away from the ruin a second time…

After some time we come up to the ruins again. Yep, it’s magic.

Kol attempts to find tracks… and finds three sets. Of course.

Well, the grouping of tracks are all starting off going in the same direction.

Kol begins to follow them and as we go he figures out how to differentiate them: one set has small tracks.

Well, let’s see if whatever’s fucking with us can counter us following known tracks.

Following the tracks we get as far as we did last time…

Alex is doing the tracking this time… they get spun around.

Man Berg gets them going in the right direction again and again they get spun around.

We try to scrutinize the edge of our limited area and continuously fail our saved against it to make any progress.

This is getting exceptionally frustrating

After an annoyingly long time one of us finally rolls high and we penetrate this inanity.

We make it a short way past the barrier before it begins to get dark… the sun is setting with all the time we’ve wasted.

We make camp and start taking watches so that we can recover.

The first two watches go uneventfully then the third.

Kol’s watch a creature approaches…

The creature is large and it’s ground-shaking footfalls wake the party.

It strides up faster than expected and attacks Man Berg.

He wakes and moves away taking an AoO

Kol nails it with Jolt

Velius throws a Mudball! It’s blinded.

Alex’s weapon bounces off it ineffectually

The monster nearly kills Man Berg

Man Berg tries to back off…

Kol casts Lightning Bolt and that does some damage.

Velius casts Ice Spears targeting this monster… nailing it in two places. They drop it on it’s huge behind!

Still alive tho.

Alex grabs Man Berg and puts them behind him.

The beast gets up and growls at us before taking a few steps.

Man Berg tries to zap it with his psionic powers… success!

Kol attempts to get to Man Berg… it repositions him. Interrupted Kol summons an Aggressive Thundercloud… which fails to breach it’s SR

Velius casts Euphoric Cloud… and it saves by 1.

Alex’s turn! She pushes Man Berg half her movement… a whole 40ft thank you Deck of Many Things

It has a movement of 40… it goes to get into range and it’s tripped with Alex’s AoO! It tries to grab Alex and fails!

Man Berg wiffs affecting it with something.

Kol moves up and casts another Lightning Bolt painting damage onto the creature.

Velius is running out of Spells… they WildShape, turning into a giant nope-rope

Alex keeps pushing Man Berg away from the creature

The monster rises from prone provoking an AoO from the nope-rope. Unfortunately they don’t get the grapple.

It provokes an AoO from Alex and shakes their trip off as well.

It repositions Alex away from Man Berg

Kol flies up and nails it with Lightning Bolt!

Velius slithers up and goes to bite and again it shakes them off.

Alex… goes to whip and misses entirely.

The creature finally catches up to Man Berg and drags him into Hell.

“Uuuh huh.” - Alex.

Angry danger-noodle noises from Velius.

DM calls for Perception from the party…

Man Berg left his umbrella.

Welp, these things happen being an adventurer… especially with a Deck of Many Things having been in play.
