I think one of his accounts was LMAO@lemmy.world, basically he got banned for community squatting and then due to it vowed to ruin the platform, his first attempt was spamming a bunch of long domains, but that got automated out as someone released a tool that allowed you to give a token and a username and it just nuked every community that person owned. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the same guy.

as much as I wanna jump on the spez evil train, I think a more likely trail is that kid who got banned for community squatting, he found that they automated away his ability to just spam create dumb communities so now he’s likely just paying someone to DDoS the platform. He has a youtube channel, it’s really sad. All his videos are worthless acts like “hacking” (more like exploiting) websites that he thinks are popular/makes views. He even has a video on how to speedrun getting monetized on youtube in the event that your channel gets banned/demonetized. It’s super shitty.

I had never heard of it so i just went and tried it, the mods for it are super buggy but, base game was super flushed out and functional. It’s not minecraft, so it’s a little to get used to but, it works amazingly.

so far I’ve seen some bots post articles that setup some pretty decent conversation. I am slightly annoyed that it floods but, I just keep my sorting by stuff that’s hot and it’s usually good.

judging a quick read of that, it seems most if not all of the changes only apply to commercial use(thankfully), they even specify it under the personal use area,so that makes me feel a little better. That being said I made it to no name brands such as mods with branded automobiles before my ADHD brain lost interest as well

I chose my name as a shortened version of the name I generally use on social media platforms. It’s just this one is easier to type and since the account didn’t exist I took advantage of being able to use the shorthand.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but, I think you are right on the bug, I don’t think this is an app specific, I’ve had the same thing happen when browsing my main instance via it’s web portal and on jerboa and connect as well. I agree there’s a bug with Lemmy itself in regards to comment trees.

I feel like ads in lemmy would be a hard to implement thing, it would need to be done on the instance level… and people would just jump ship to another instance that didn’t have ads. it’s possible that it could post ads as posts that get federated but it sounds like an amazing way to potentially get your instance defederated in concern that it’s going to devolve to constant spam.

I tried jerboa, I didn’t like it. Seems to basic and didn’t really function for me(was likely due to actual server issues rather than app issues though). I’m now on connect and pretty content though.

I’m concerned at the security implications of this. I haven’t read into it but, with the world moving towards facial recognition/face locks. I’m not sure how wise it is to allow people to do a detailed outline of your eye and face.

Considering a lot of gore content is illegal in places such as the US, it’s possible they the tag doesn’t exist anymore on most places to avoid promoting the content.

hard pass on hybrids. Every hybrid I’ve known if has had super pricey transmission/clutch issues. I’ve had too much bad luck with them.

I mean they are currently /ok/ but since it’s only samsung devices it bounces off instead of every android device it doesn’t have the versatility that the Apple airtags have (where it bounces off any apple device and any android device with the app), so if it’s between one of the other I would go with air tag since you can still use them on android (with a secondary app) but as always YMMV since it’s made for Apple devices

I see why people use downvoting this way, especially since that was the norm on reddit which a good portion of the base fled from, I find the same issue I had with downvotes on reddit to apply here as well though. I try to advocate down votes to be not out of personal opinion, but a reflection that the content is either useless or harmful to the existing conversation. This allows posts that are actually useful and contribute to the discussion to exist even if they are unpopular to peoples opinion. Just because you don’t like the post, doesn’t mean the post isn’t true or useful, which is why I find that form of downvoting ideology to be harmful overall.

That being said, I would find the parent comment you replied to as constructive to the conversation…Up until they started egging people on with “is getting people super angry” I wouldn’t call this being downvoted for not agreeing, I would call it being downvoted for not being constructive to the post at hand(as there’s no need to actively try to get people to rage at you with a post like that)

I never really thought of that movie in ages, was the first 3d movie I’ve ever watched, I loved it. I never though about comparing it to SAO or Log Horizon. It’s interesting to think about

I personally couldn’t get into having communities be called magazines, I found it confusing to find what I wanted then I moved to lemmy and then it was somewhat re-enforced the decision when it was stated that the instance was being de-federated from some instances so I sorta just stayed.
