That last line in the video. That’s exactly what happens when they finally realize you caught them in the racist/revisionist shit. They go on the attack with something absolutely inane.

It’s good to document the resulting problems, but the analysis of the root cause is absolute shit and is clearly done by liberals (confirmed by them interviewing AOC and uncritically broadcasting what she says without calling her on her own support of colonialism, genocide, and capitalist exploitation). They blame this on a “lack of rules.” Bullshit. If there were no rules (laws), the local population would simply kick the rich people out and expropriate their shit. I think you’ll find there are plenty of rules and plenty of enforcement. The problem is just that all of that law and order is directed squarely against the working class and indigenous populations.
“More rules” isn’t a recipe for fixing anything. People rising up is. Fortunately there was a little anarchist graffiti on that school’s wall. So these liberal journalists are not the only people advocating for solutions.
Looking at China its also the end of communism…
Workers absolutely do not own and self-manage their workplaces in China. There is nothing communist about it, except propaganda used to falsely promote its rulers. Economic systems are defined by the actual, material relations involved in them, not in the lies told by their PR.
EDIT: Note that others may or may not want to address the connection you make between China and fascism. I chose not to, because it is irrelevant to the question of whether anything about China implies something about communism.
It’s not. Gates’ “charity” does an incredible amount of damage, and also destroys a lot of positive change that would otherwise be happening. For example, he was instrumental in ensuring an open-source COVID-19 vaccine didn’t get released, in a way that potentially denied access to COVID vaccines to millions—perhaps billions—throughout the Global South, in the interests of protecting the profits of big pharma. His diversion of education improvements into private and charter schools is pretty infamous for destroying attempts to improve public education…all so that education can be repurposed into creating good, obedient, unthinking workers for capitalist industry. And a lot of his “food programs” and “vaccination programs” throughout Africa have done a great deal of damage to the general public trust in such programs, while arguably doing as much harm as good materially as well.
You might want to do your homework. Here’s a start:
Kshama spitting truth! Someone’s fighting to improve material conditions for the working class here, and it sure as fuck ain’t the Democrats (or Republicans, but that’s obvious)!
No, traditions and customs aren’t laws. Sorry, but that’s some big-brained liberal nonsense, designed as apologetic propaganda for the legal injustice system. IMO Peter Gelderloos provides a pretty good functional definition:
Anarchists take an entirely different view of the problems that authoritarian societies place within the framework of crime and punishment. A crime is the violation of a written law, and laws are imposed by elite bodies. In the final instance, the question is not whether someone is hurting others but whether she is disobeying the orders of the elite. As a response to crime, punishment creates hierarchies of morality and power between the criminal and the dispensers of justice. It denies the criminal the resources he may need to reintegrate into the community and to stop hurting others.
In an empowered society, people do not need written laws; they have the power to determine whether someone is preventing them from fulfilling their needs, and can call on their peers for help resolving conflicts. In this view, the problem is not crime, but social harm — actions such as assault and drunk driving that actually hurt other people. This paradigm does away with the category of victimless crime, and reveals the absurdity of protecting the property rights of privileged people over the survival needs of others. The outrages typical of capitalist justice, such as arresting the hungry for stealing from the wealthy, would not be possible in a needs-based paradigm.
The existence of law is 100% a bad thing, even if sometimes some not-awful stuff happens to be encoded into it (generally due to concessions made by the powerful to prevent revolt over the rest of their oppressive garbage).
EDIT: Not sure if people realize, but the criticism is addressed toward the idiot liberal lawyer who’s a guest at the beginning, not toward Abi’s video overall, which is generally much better than his tripe.
to transition people from conservative to liberal, and liberal to leftist, we have to spoon feed.
Not true. People don’t undergo ideological shifts simply from running into and watching some online video. They do so after real life experiences that affect them materially. For example, they are fired in a clearly unjust fashion by a boss, violently attacked, arrested, helped by a mutual aid project, etc. And then they are ready to learn whether it’s in a dribble or a flood.
Also, it is false that conservative liberals need to go through some progressive liberal phase before becoming leftists. If anything, becoming a progressive liberal tends to stick them right there, trusting institutions of capital and state, and that’s the end. I think you’ve been listening far too much to streamers like the guy in the OP on things like this.
Sure thing! I think his content is promoted as kind of a “baby’s first glance at woke politics,” type of deal. But it actually serves to draw people back into Blue Wave type of shit, which just perpetuates our cycles of reactionary right-wing politics. It’s like a new generation of the Democratic Party serving to limit the range of left-wing discourse to stuff that’s not even really leftist, but just not as explicitly reactionary (i.e. “The Democratic Party is where liberation movements go to die”).
Yeah. He does a lot of THEY do this; “WE” absolutely do not, with quite the definition of “we”. As you say, a lot of the first part of that is pretty self-evident—so self-evident that lecturing people about it in a video seems rather patronizing, and perhaps even in the masturbatory “look how great we are for repeating this shit about THEM every other sentence,” range of MSNBC-style content. Whereas the second part of it serves to obfuscate the sewage that comes out of liberal politics outside of the explicit, alt-right, clown world aesthetic sphere.
This guy is a pretty hopeless liberal. While he’s absolutely obsessed with a certain brand of conservative—and particularly how they behave on the Internet and other public patforms—he identifies himself as part of the status quo of the Democratic Party (you can see this all the time when he uses the word “we”). In particular, he attributes a lot of shit to Democrats without introspection, like assuming they are always honest and well-intentioned.
Like, how would he tell you Democrats are behaving about the concentration camps literally being run within the U.S., now under the direct control of the Democratic administration of Joe “Take Back The Streets” Biden? Would he take a moment of thought and then eat his hat and acknowledge that they’re pulling exactly the same behavior that he’s describing here for Republicans? The militarization of the police? The continued warmongering, and support of fascists abroad (e.g. Israel)?
This is not leftist material. It’s just a part of fearmongering about Republicans in order to get people to accept and wholeheartedly support the fascists under the other brand name of the U.S. uniparty, and never look a single millimeter beyond. Get this shit off BreadTube. Seriously. We can do MUCH better.
Steal from a corporation?! Unlikely. I’m guessing he stole them from his neighbor’s kid or something. Or his own. (Does he have kids? I don’t even really care to find out.)
Twitter is truly the 4chan of the modern Internet. Well, if 4chan had been broadcast and normalized all over the fucking news, anyway, instead of being the closeted cesspit of bigotry that it was.
Seems a little on the…ah, “colonial tourism”?..scale. It’s not like these folks are going to stay and do some kind of real cultural exchange and contribute or anything. But at least they seem reasonably sympathetic and respectful of boundaries, and it’s neat to get a brief glance and a bit of cool liberation propaganda at the end.
No. I agree that liberal “democracy” is a sham. But the so-called “ratchet effect” is a useless meme. Democrats push us into reactionary politics too; they don’t just “keep us from going left”. The current head of the Democratic Party, occupying the most powerful political position in the world—more powerful than any king throughout the history of human kind—is the one of the most devout supporters of zionist genocide you’ll find, chose to crush the rialroad strike, largely architected our system of mass incarceration and mass surveillance (he boasts of having authored the Patriot Act, and he actually pushed Ronald Reagan to go harder on the “Drug War” than the latter was inclined to do on his own), led the charge on indebting generations of college students, and is now on the brink of starting WW3 in the Middle East (after risking it in Ukraine).
Genocide is a non-starter, period. It is not, and can never seriously be construed as, harm reduction. Don’t vote for fascists. Those actively enabling genocide against Palestine are fascists. Thankfully, there’s no debating the genocide now if you have any honesty whatsoever. Liberals advocating for voting for genocidal candidates of either/any party can fuck right off and [redacted].
