  • DCSS got quite a few beefy updates recently, with reworks for Makhleb, Dithmenos, Yredelemnul and Beogh, many new spells (and a new spell school in trunk), reflavouring of Poison magic into Alchemy that allowed adding some more late game spells (e.g. Yara’s is hexes/alchemy now), return of mountain dwarves and a new species that can dual wield weapons, transmutation magic school being changed into talismans…

I love the new changes and, for the first time in my DCSS obsession, I started playing trunk :D

Yeah, jobhunting is hell and you aren’t alone at this. Just keep checking and applying, eventually you’ll be employed! Good luck with this!

It’s cool that in some places mental support is so accessible! We were checking for a psychiatrist for my GF recently and holy cow they’re expensive! We’re going for them anyway ofc.

I don’t think you’re fucked at all. Your life situation like that for a reason, and that reason can be treated and fixed. I mean, I don’t know your situation so I can’t really say for sure but I believe you’ll be able to deal with it.

Supportive people are of a huge help, whether online or IRL. It may be hard to befriend people and keep the friendship but it’ll possibly be the hardest step to make, as the next ones will be done with others.

I also find it helpful to keep some hopeful and affirming media around, for times when my mental issues cause me to fail. E.g., rewatching some Bocchi the rock episodes help me cope with anxiety when it leads me to fail something important.

Therapy can also be an option but it costs money so I can’t say if it’s an option for you.

  • Damn, I’m surprised to see a Lunacid post on Lemmy

I didn’t see any posts about this game so decided to make the first step myself!

Certain spells can be pretty OP throughout the game if you focus on your magic skills.

On my first playthrough I had a magic-focused character, and yeah, magic is extremely strong in this game! That’s why on my vampire run I decided to ban any attacking spells, to focus more on weapons.

My main problem with vampires was taking damage when using holy water - it’s really important in some areas like the prison (fucking dogs…), and not being able to just use it whenever I want was… annoying.

I don’t regret playing as a melee vampire, I learned to use blocking effectively (I basically never used it on my first playthrough) and the quirks were neat even if not really that impactful gameplay-wise.

I’m kinda working on collecting all the items so I can get the last ending.

    Good luck with it!

  • Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls. The series have plenty of difficult boss fights but this one is earlier than most and the biggest difficulty spike in the entire game IMHO.

Outside of the Souls games, there’s Lil’ Hunter from Nuclear Throne. I tried to beat this little trashcan SO many times and succeeded only once. It’s insane.

Also shout-out to Hush from the Binding of Isaac for almost giving me a heart attack when I was fighting it as the tainted lost. Never again.

  • The game expects you to figure stuff out on your own so I recommend to take it slow and look closely at what data is available to you. (Or just finding a guide that explains elemental damage and items if you don’t wanna do this)

The game’s system is simpler than it seems and it’s very rewarding to finally learn and master it.

  • That’s really cool ^^

The game starts out kinda tough so no surprise you bounced off. I took my time to learn how elemental resistances work and write down what resistances different enemies have and the game clicked. It was very satisfying to finally be able to destroy piranhas after they harassed my young adventurers for so long~

  • Yeah, the collection is incredible! I at first thought that the games will be some shallow micro games but…

These are full games in their own right, with great music and visuals, with fun (and sometimes innovative!) gameplay to top that off.

This project is insane in the most positive meaning of the word.
