Yeah I agree about an average American being pretty naive to things. It’s not even just naive, it’s actively mis/dis-informed too

this is a war on information
I think most people understand that by this point. It’s been a war on information since the internet was created, even 80 years ago people like Goebbels understood the value of constricting information flow.
I got banned multiple times from calling something on a conservative subreddit hate speech, because it was very blatantly hate speech. Go figure…
The reality is that these people were/are unhappy in their lives due to stagnation in their finances/jobs, poor healthcare, and they don’t have a tight local community. Then these dumb, angry people are primed to accept someone who says they’ll fix their lives, and knows how to talk right to them. Everything else is just toppings, but that’s really the meat of it.
ahhh that’s what happened to me then. I just randomly got banned one day and I think it was reporting a conservative post for hate or something
Try explaining that term to someone in 1925. I’m proud of how far we’ve come.
Welcome. I joined from reddit in 2025, and happy to see more come over since Reddit has become a corporate, bot-filled, propaganda arm for many different groups
The core of the issues were fully American. However, USSR/Russia has worked very long and hard to pour nitroglycerin and gasoline on these issues for their own benefit, such as expanding territory, capturing/killing US and NATO spies, etc. all thanks to their little pet in the white house now. I mean in the 30s the same fascist/capitalist leadership tried another coup it just didn’t work (where George H.W. Bush’s father was involved, of course). In the 80s they hollowed out our support system even more, and it’s only declined from there.
It’s clear you don’t know who I am or what I know, of course, but you’re reading into my comment way too much.
If your definition of the Russian Mafia includes, the Kremlin, then yes. Putin and co are absolutely gangster scum that work hand in hand with the actual mafia and international criminal organizations. Sure the actual people of Russia are fucked (just as with any country of a dictator).
Not necessarily monsters (actually yeah they are), but he has a 40 year history of being compromised and owned by Soviet and Russian oligarchs. I’m reading “American Kompromat” now and it couldn’t be clearer. It’s not even hidden or anything. The Russians really just, won the Cold War. They did it, they toppled the US. Good job for them.
I don’t think the above commenter is saying GOP isn’t worse, but having lived there for a few years and since moved away, it’s taxed quite a bit more than other states. You definitely get a lot more out of it, so it’s just that tradeoff. Either you pay little taxes and have to pay separately for private things to do everything yourself (good for rich people, bad for everyone else), or you pay more taxes but have way more public services.
For sure, that’s definitely a big American thing. The entire irony is that the term “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” was coined to say how you can’t do that, meant to describe an impossible task. Somehow conservatives took it and then made it mean the exact opposite, which is exactly on brand for them.
sure but in every comment I made it very clear what I think of those programs
See how quick you were to go to the extreme and start strawmanning everything in your previous comment though? That’s the problem.
I’m not saying the government shouldn’t help the people who need it though. Bring back FDR. I think that’s the big reason why I’m not actually conservative. The help should be there, but people should have an internal desire to rely on outside forces as little as possible. I think many already have that desire, but not enough by far.
Without some kind of mechanism to cap off growth, I think any social media service will end up like Facebook. As for the concept of a fediverse here, I think certain instances will definitely turn to shit, but it’s up to the individual instance rules to figure that out.
Who said any of that? You’re making up stuff I didn’t say…
People that need help should absolutely get it in all those forms. I’m talking about like, not participating in the economy as much. Growing your own food, relying on yourself as much as possible. Like I said in other comments here, I think I’ve horseshoed around off the left and I’ve ended up in a hyper-local community driven economy mindset.
Basically what I mean is the mindset of doing everything possible in your power to be self-sufficient. I think I’ve gone so far off the left side I’ve horseshoed around. Everyone should be striving to be as self-sufficient as possible and not need to rely on external forces. I’m far from it, but I’m trying, at least given the past few years (and especially this month) I’m preparing for bad situations.
little spider bros help everybody out
